Ava Shamban, M.D. is a board certified dermatologist and owner of the Laser Institute for Dermatology – an enterprise housing her medical practice, an in-house medical day spa and the Acne Treatment Center – in Santa Monica, California.  She is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at UCLA.

After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University with a A.B. in psychology, she attended Case Western Reserve Medical School.  With a patient base of over 37,000, Dr. Shamban has established a thriving dermatology practice, authored numerous peer review articles in medical journals and chapters in medical texts, and participated in extensive clinical research trials.

Dr. Shamban appears frequently on television including Extreme Makeover where she is the featured dermatologist, plus red carpet appearances for E!, as well as interviews on Extra!, Good Morning America, The View, KCAL news and more.  In the popular press, she has been quoted extensively in glossy magazines such as Vogue, Allure, W, Elle, Self, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, Shape, Real Simple, Tatler (UK), Fitness and others.

Dr. Shamban is a happily married mother of three sons.
